Summary:
To answer the M-Era.Net call 2020, a multinational consortium, of which a French ceramics centre is a member, is looking for partners and a coordinator.
The research project aims at developing green and sustainable 3D printing technologies for ceramics and metals. An innovative polymer retrieval method will be notably developed in order to save time and energy.
Therefor, experts in additive manufacturing of metals, ecological debinding process, and other related technologies are sought.
Description:
Additive manufacturing becomes one of today's major industrial challenges and opportunities. Printing complex parts in various materials is of particular interest to almost all modern industrial sectors. The additive manufacturing processes rely on many different technologies (raw materials, IT, electronic conception, laser, etc.).
In this context, a French technology transfer center (TTC), specialized in technical ceramics preparation and processing, is willing to respond to the M-Era.Net call (Materials for additive manufacturing) in 2020.
Three research institutes from Canada, Austria, France have joined this consortium. Now it is necessary to complete this consortium with partners having the below-mentioned skills in order to jointly submit a project proposal.
The multinational consortium aims at developing a new 3D printing technology that will permit producing parts with complex geometry and accurate dimensions and in less time of printing and post-treatments. This novel technology is based on the formulation of meltable feedstock with low viscosity (mixture of low melting temperature polymers and fillers). These fillers could be ceramic or metallic powders.
The work will deal with the selection and validation of various polymer / powder mixtures for the 3D printing process. Preliminary work has been performed but this method needs to be improved.
Compared to conventional thermal debinding methods, an alternative sustainable debinding technology allows retrieve condensed organics in a short-time. This green debinding process will be studied in order to lower the greenhouse gas emissions.
Therefore, several partners are sought:
1. Expert (SME) in additive manufacturing of metals
2. Expert (SME/RTO) specialized in supercritical fluid extraction technology to optimize the debinding process
3. Support technologies (SME/RTO/Industrials), for instance, IT / Electronic experts to improve the parts' design and programming on the tool.
4. End-users (MNEs) for the validation of developed technologies in a realistic environment are also sought.
Besides, the consortium is still looking for a project coordinator who is experienced in the management of EU projects.
Please check beforehand if your country/region is eligible for the M-Era.Net program.
This partner request is open for receiving expressions of interest until 29th May 2020
The call's deadline is 16th June 2020.
