Summary:
A Korean R&D institute specialized in ICT Bio-healthcare has developed a skin-attachable multi-sensor module that simultaneously measures bio-signals and store the data such as ECG (electrocardiogram), EDA (electrodermal activity) for a longer period of time than conventional measuring device. Any organization can be a potential partner under technical cooperation and research cooperation agreement.
Description:
With the increase in the proportion of the old and chronic patients, the strong demand for easy health monitoring in daily life has been growing instead of using diagnostic equipment in hospital.
Currently, it is rare that a single skin-attachable device measures various bio-signal simultaneously. Commonly used to diagnose heart disease in hospital, holter monitor also creates restrictions on daily life while wearing.
A Korean R&D institute focusing on ICT-based Bio-healthcare has developed skin-attachable ECG (electrocardiogram)-based multi-sensor module providing long time logger function.
The features of the health monitoring device using the technology are as following:
1) The device is skin-attached and downsized, resulting in the minimization in user inconvenience.
2) It measures ECG (electrocardiogram), EDA (electrodermal activity), skin temperature and acceleration at once with a single sensor module and records each measurement information for 36 hours (Able to save 46 hours of record if only use ECG logger function)
3) Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) technologies are applied for communication
It is expected that the technology can be utilized in the area where biometric information is used in real time such as disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The main application areas are personal health monitoring, collecting and measuring of bio-signal for medical assistive device, and remote healthcare service.
The Korean R&D institute is looking for companies or research institutes in wearable bio-signal measurement device to increase their products’ record period under technical cooperation. Also, this institute is interested in applying joint R&D programme(e.g. EUREKA, EUROSTARS) to develop a personal medical device with the technology of multi-sensor module for bio-signal measurement.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
- Type of partner sought: SMEs or research institute
- Specific area of activity of the partner: Wearable healthcare devices, Personal medical device
- Task to be performed: Employing the technology to improve the existing products’ record function. Applying to joint R&D programme(e.g. EUREKA, EUROSTARS) to develop new personal medical device for measuring bio-signal.
