Description:
A UK company is introducing in Europe a new hand held UV-C lamp.
Disinfection with ultra-violet irradiation like UV-C has been known for decades. So far, it has entailed permanent fixtures in healthcare establishments, food production facilities and elsewhere. It is preferable over chemical and mist producing solutions in that it leaves no chemicals. Also, the irradiation destroys the genetic info inside the particles and the damage is irreversible.
It has been difficult to produce a mobile device as they have struggled with the power/weight ratio. The new product has the balance right. It is portable enough (see the Picture) and produces a sufficient output at 254 nm. It has been validated by a University in the USA. The lamp kills 99% of Covid viruses underneath it in 1.33 seconds. The speed of sanitisation is similar to wiping the surfaces.
Early adopters are in the food industry but others are showing keen interest such as airlines and the travel industry, and also schools.
The UK company seeks businesses and organisations for commercial agreements with technical assistance. The sectors include everywhere where work areas need to be disinfected on a regular basis. On top of the above industries the list will include leisure and sports facilities, retail, healthcare establishment and so on. The UK company will provide the training around safety and efficacy and provide the PPE and safety kit.
