Summary:
A Korean R&D institute specialized in ICT has developed a technology that analyses and evaluates user motion using artificial intelligence in real-time, based on the data obtained through 2D or 3D camera only without any sensor on user’s body. It is more accurate and faster technology than the existing human motion assessment. Any organization in need of such a technology can be a potential partner under technical cooperation and research cooperation agreement.
Description:
With the rapid development of IT, various types of contents services have been released such as multiplayer game platform and posture analysis system in sports. Additionally, due to global pandemic, video-based learning service for dance, yoga or Pilates has been widely expanded.
However, the poor recognition ratio for the complex motions causes game manufacturers to make simple motion recognition-based games only. In term of video-based learning service, it is hard to know how accurately students are following the instructor’s movement.
A Korean R&D institute focusing on ICT Visual AI has developed a technology that analyses and evaluates user behaviour using AI (Artificial Intelligence) in real time, based on the data only obtained through 2D USB camera or low-coat 3D camera without any sensor on user’s body. The technology enables teachers to provide students accurate analysis and evaluation results even for dynamic, complicated movement through video-based learning service. Moreover, the development of an additional technology is being carried out to evaluate fitness movements on mobile device such as a smart phone.
The technology includes the following details:
1) Technology that elaborates Feature Description
- Elaborates feature through the technology for bone-extracted information stabilising and core joint screening
- Has a hybrid feature that combines the geometry of the core position with the dynamics of the core motion
2) Technology that analyses the accuracy of movement
- Analyses the accuracy of movement in each section using modified Dynamic Time Warping
- Analyses the errors of each movement through identifying the differences of each joint movement
3) Technology that improves and utilises the analysis of the accuracy
- Calculates similarity between correct movement and learner’s through analysing characteristics of movement in each section
- Diversifies evaluation criteria through parameter adjustment
The Korean R&D institute is looking for companies and research institutes in sports, education, and medical rehabilitation industries to employ this technology to make motion-based education contents and posture analysis system under technical cooperation agreement. This institute is also interested in applying joint R&D programme(e.g. EUREKA, EUROSTARS) to develop AI motion behaviour analysis system under research cooperation agreement.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
- Type of partner sought: SMEs or research institute
- Specific area of activity of the partner: motion-based contents and analysis system providers in sports, education, and medical rehabilitation industry
- Task to be performed: Employing the technology to make motion-based education contents and posture analysis system under technical cooperation agreement. Applying for joint R&D programme(e.g. EUREKA, EUROSTARS) to develop AI motion behaviour analysis system under research cooperation agreement
