Summary:
A Spanish architecture company has developed a high sustainability system for construction of buildings. It drastically reduces the use of construction materials by allowing the building conductions and services to be deployed all through the thickness of the concrete slab while becoming integrated in it. Also, it improves the energetic behaviour of buildings. The company is looking for license agreements.
Description:
One of the main goals of the new Horizon Europe program is to tackle climate change by helping to achieve the UN’s sustainable development goals. It is extremely important that every organization adopts sustainability measures that address this climate challenges in order to get a better world.
The construction sector is not an exception and must aim for more sustainable buildings that improve energy efficiency, use less materials and be citizens focused.
In this contest the Spanish company has developed a high sustainability system for construction of buildings. The system is based on the manufacturing of an innovative concrete slab that improves energetic behaviour and reduces the amount of materials used in the construction.
Thanks to the holes in the concrete, the building conductions and services can expand all through the thickness of the slab while becoming integrated in it. This means that services in cross-sections occupy the same space as the structure itself and thus no additional suspended ceilings are required to hide them all (see picture attached).
Thanks to the geometry of the waffle slab, services are not visible but easily accessible though. This makes the suspended ceiling unnecessary while allowing for a complete registrability of services; so it is perfect for installing the whole electric power distribution throughout the ceiling. It is possible to keep an aesthetic and expressive structure with fair- faced concrete by adding dyes to the concrete mass or just painting it afterwards.
The company manufactures the plastic injection moulds that are used during the construction to manufacture the building structure. The moulds are made of high strength polypropylene, meaning that are reusable at least 2 years if maintained correctly and, and at the end of their life cycle, the polypropylene can be recycled to make new moulds.
The company offers different solutions based on the same concept in order to adapt to the different project needs:
-One way (see picture)
-Two ways (see picture)
-Customized
It is compatible with bioclimatic systems, since specific installations systems can be designed, allowing the use of the most innovative and sustainable technologies (geothermal energy by Canadian wells, solar energy, type ventilation plenum, etc.). More conventional service facilities can also be easily adapted.
In order to develop its international business, the Spanish company is looking for partners within the construction sector (promoters, designers, builders, etc.). The kind of partnership sought is license agreement.
