Summary:
A Spanish company has developed a solution for an integral management and decision-making support of surgical processes in hospitals, including features such as: pre-surgical management, smart planning and scheduling of the surgical block, real time view of the surgical block status, patient safety, optimization, physical traceability or patient empowerment. The company is looking for health institutions performing surgical processes interested in acquiring the license to use the technology.
Description:
A Spanish software company has developed an innovative technology that provides an integral solution to the surgical block management to support decision-making processes and the integration and analysis of biomedical parameters, as well as the recording and analysis of clinical information during the surgical process. It is a work tool intended for the different professional profiles that participate in the surgical process, mainly professionals with a clinical profile: surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing personnel.
The surgical activity of a hospital constitutes a central axis. This activity requires many resources, both human and material. That is why an adequate management of the surgical process from the clinical, healthcare, and organizational perspective results in a benefit for the patient thanks to the application of surgical treatments on time as well as in adequate and safety conditions and benefits the health provider optimizing and streamlining its organizational and logistic workflows ensuring that the resource allocation is optimal.
The main features provided by this technology include:pre-surgical management, smart planning and scheduling of the surgical block, real time view of the surgical block status, patient safety, optimization through key performance indicators and dashboards, physical traceability or patient empowerment.
The system has been designed in a completely modular way, with specific functionalities for each of the phases of the surgical process, all of them orchestrated by the Decision-Making Support Module. This module is focused on making it easier for professionals to apply the surgical technique in the shortest possible time lag and in the best safety conditions. Throughout the process, in a transversal way, the Integration of Biomedical Variables and Clinical data module constitutes a fundamental source of information to ensure the correct planning, preparation and execution of surgical interventions, being the monitoring of the vital signs of patients in real time the main added value.
The software solution has been conceived as a 100% web application, with interfaces adapted to the different environments existing in the surgical process. The main healthcare users who could be benefited from the system are:
-Surgeons: Responsible for carrying out the surgical indication consultations, the scheduling of surgical interventions and, finally, the execution of the surgical technique itself.
-Anaesthetists: Responsible for carrying out pre-anaesthetic consultations, participating in the programming of surgical interventions and participation in the execution of the surgical technique. In this last phase, anaesthetists are responsible for monitoring the patient and keeping him under an adequate level of sedation. In the postoperative phase, the anaesthesia staff, with nursing support, is also responsible for monitoring patients and determining the appropriate time when the patient should leave the surgical block.
-Nurses: Provide support to surgery and anaesthesia throughout the surgical process.
-Management: The clinical and administrative information managed within the system offers the management profile a global and integrated vision of the surgical process. This offers very useful tools in relation to process improvement.
The company is looking for health institutions performing surgical processes interested in improving the management of their material and human resources, supply systems, and attention received by their patients by means of a tool capable to support decision-making processes and workflow optimization. By buying a license to use this solution, the company would handle the installation and integration of the software into the partner’s system and train its personnel in using the tool.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
The company is looking to partner with health institutions performing surgical processes (either public or private) interested in improving the management of their material and human resources, their supply systems, and the attention received by their patients by means of a tool capable of support decision-making processes and workflow optimization. By buying a license to use this solution, the company would handle all the installation and integration of the software into the partner’s system and train its personnel in using their tool.
