Description:
This UK company was incorporated in 2017 to develop tools to enhance learning in learners aged 11to16 years and the mathematics app was released in 2020. The mathematics app has recently been short-listed for a prestigious global EdTech award.
The company has designed a mathematics app and teacher portal for learners with access to either personal Apple iPads, or shared school iPads. The app is currently in use in UK schools covering the mathematics curriculum up to General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). The teacher portal allows the teacher to track and monitor student progress.
The app helps pupils to remember what they have been taught in class and create a greater fluency with the basic principals of mathematics. It has been designed by qualified and experienced teachers with the knowledge of integrating educational technology into the classroom and understanding the individual learning needs of each pupil. The app applies well researched principles from cognitive science (including retrieval practice, spaced learning, and interleaving) to secure knowledge in long-term memory.
Adaptive learning technology enables pupils to advance at their own pace. Gaps in knowledge are identified and tracked with questions personalised to the needs of each student. The interface incorporates handwriting recognition technology allowing for easy input of mathematical notation whilst the app creates opportunities for revision on an ongoing basis. A teacher portal enables a teacher to monitor student progress and engagement.
There are two routes to purchasing this app it can either be accessed:
(i) by subscription through the AppStore for individual use.
(ii) by schools through the block purchase of an annual access code directly from the company.
