Summary:
Researchers from established Slovak university have developed an award-winning technology for automatic monitoring of moving objects in sky. The system is highly mobile and allows effective full-spectrum video recording of the sky in 180°. This technology is applicable for monitoring in various fields including astronomy, meteorology, geophysics or air surveillance. The university seeks for partners through licensing, commercial or manufacturing agreement or via technical cooperation agreement.
Description:
Researchers from Slovak university have developed a modular automatic system for monitoring of moving sky objects. The system consists of mechanical construction and a software control system. Fisheye lens technology enables accurate all-sky (180°) monitoring, while built-in image amplifier increases the sensitivity of video recording. The system is well protected and supported by cooling mechanism. With total weight of 6.5 kilograms, the technology is fully mobile and can be mounted on airplanes. There is also a possibility of installing additional components. The detection capability ranges from meteors to airplanes, making the technology applicable in various fields of sky monitoring. First prototypes have been installed for scientific purposes in 2007. Other prototypes are currently employed in international projects within Europe. Prototypes of the system are being actively used for scientific purposes in the fields of applied and amateur astronomy and meteorology. The system has potential for application in airspace surveillance and security, weather monitoring and commercial meteorology, and in other domains of sky monitoring or even leisure. This Slovak university is interested in technology transfer with industrial companies. They prefer cooperation via commercial agreement with technical assistance, license agreement, manufacturing agreement or via technical cooperation agreement. The university is looking for partners to manufacture and commercialize the system under licensing agreement or to provide technical cooperation for the development and professional use of the system in any of the possible applications.
