Summary:
A small Danish company has developed a range of gourmet popcorn in a variety of tastes including caramel, chocolate and cheese flavours. The company has a strong environmental focus, and the entire production is as CO2 friendly as possible. In order to continue their expansion, the company is looking for distributors in Finland, Germany, Netherlands and Sweden.
Description:
Originally founded in 2015, and making popcorn in the owner’s kitchen, this small Danish company now operates with a professional production of popcorn from their production factory in North Jutland. Breaking with tradition, the company makes a range of unique popcorn flavours including Belgian chocolate, milk chocolate and caramel, salt caramel, liquorice, arabica coffee, cheddar cheese, smoked cheese, jalapeno/cheddar, blackcurrant, and raspberry. All production is made in small batches, with heavy coating and cooked to give a special crunchy taste experience and individually tasted to ensure the correct taste balance. All the products contain no artificial additives, colours, or food preservatives.
All their packaging is optimised with respect to the environment. Jars, lids, and labels are made of 100% polypropylene plastic, designed for recycling. The plastic uses less energy to produce and transport than other packaging such as metal or glass, and causes less CO2 emission. All packaging can be made with a special airtight barrier, to ensure that the products last as long as possible, reducing food wastage. The company’s entire production facility has operated with waste separation since 2018.
As the company is a craft company, they only serve popcorn of the highest quality. When they have a production batch which has cosmetic issues, and is less than perfect, it is provided free of charge to local care homes and social institutions for their guests and clients.
The company has a network of distributors and resellers across all of Denmark, Greenland, Svalbard and Norway, but has the capacity to increase their sales. They are therefore looking for new distributors in Finland, Germany, Netherlands, and Sweden, selling to retail, special fine food stores and the catering sector.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
The ideal distributor will be selling directly to high-end food stores and restaurants, looking for a niche producer of gourmet snacks with a high environmental and quality profile.
As the company has a large number of sales outlets already across Denmark, Greenland and Norway, including Svalbard, via many distributors, they are open to having multiple distributors in other regions, particularly if they cater to different target groups.
