A French company, founded by collaborators who worked for more than 20 years in the field of industrial microbiology, is offering in the frame of distribution/retail agreement, an innovative rapid kit to support Covid-19 preventive measures. Quick and simple, the test operates in the same way as the allergen rapid lateral flow tests or pregnancy test to detect a protein specific to the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus on a surface. The detection strip used in the kit was shown to be able to detect virus at concentrations as low as 5000 pfu/mL (pfu: plaque‐forming units). This is less sensitive than the laboratory test for SARS‐CoV‐2 based on Reverse Transcriptase Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT‐qPCR), however the test is less expensive and requires very little training to perform. Kits are dedicated to professional use only. The time for results reading is 15 mn. They are very small (only a few centimetres lengh and width) including strips, buffer, tubes. Only surfaces can be analysed (steel, plastic, wood, glass/ceramic, …). No liquid samples. Sampling is around to 25 cm² (4 sq inch). The purpose is to demonstrate effective surfaces decontamination e.g. post COVID‐19 cases and enhance existing environmental testing and monitoring programs. It can be used within the food and beverage industries, foodservice and hospitality industries, office environments, health and nursing care sectors and public transport. The company wishes to continue its international development to enlarge its partners portfolio. They are looking for partners within the hygiene and sanitary control fields and/or related domains under distribution agreement.
