Summary:
A Dutch company specialized in proprietary biodegradable plastic products for landscaping and horticulture has developed a successful anchoring system for young trees, including biodegradable anchors, ropes, drainage pipes and watering sheets. The Dutch company is looking for partners in the horticultural or landscaping sector, for cooperation in the framework of a distribution services agreement.
Description:
The Dutch company has developed and manufactured a range of biobased and biodegradable products to improve environmental conditions of nature in urban areas.
One of their products is an anchoring or keeper system for young trees, based on biodegradable materials, that replaces the use of wooden poles. The system consists of specially designed anchors and ropes, including drainage pipes and watering sheets. It is installed around the trunk of the tree that fixes it to its place.
Due to the construction of the biodegradable system, young trees are more disease resistant and storm proof during the first years. When the roots of the tree have developed sufficiently, the anchors, rope, pipes and sheets will gradually disintegrate and disappear completely.
The whole system produces no waste and is not visible because it sits underground. It can be easily transported to any location, is vandal proof and does not need any type of maintenance. The total cost of ownership, labour costs and carbon footprint are less than traditional systems.
The products are fully compliant with all the requirements of 'biodegradability ' and the following international standards: EN13432, ASTM D6400, Vincotte OK Compost.
An important area of application is in landscaping and horticulture. Because of the superior properties and advantages of this biodegradable anchoring system, it its prescribed by 27 local governments in tenders for public procurement. The system is also distributed by landscaping and horticulture companies in Denmark, Norway, Belgium and France. To expand this international network the company is looking for distributors in other European countries interested in selling the system in their region and provide technical assistance to guide the use to local horticultural and landscaping companies under a distribution services agreement.
