Description:
A Dutch eco-friendly company is involved in circular economy and supplies plastic-free straws. The straws are natural, eco-friendly and hygienic, disposable, compostable and affordable. The wheat straws are made of wheat, reeds, hay, thatch or cane. The wheat straws can be regarded as sustainable alternatives for plastic straws.
Due to the passion for scuba diving the founder of the company realized more and more what an enormous plastic soup Homo Sapiens is causing and what a devastating effect is has on the marine ecosystem and it’s biodiversity. For some plastics, it takes more than 1,000 years to break down. Since the massive production of plastic started from the early 20th century, it has not yet had time to break down.
In order to contribute to a cleaner environment, the company started to develop a sustainable, biodegradable and affordable alternative for plastic straws. The company finally ended up with a strong natural and biodegradable product: the eco wheat drinking straw.
The straws, currently commercial available, are biodegradable and made of natural wheat stems. Every year there are tons of residual waste in the agricultural sector worldwide. Usually after harvesting this waste will be burned. Today, the company is collecting this residual waste from farms worldwide and pay farmers a fair price. Subsequently, the stems are cut into the requested lengths and sterilized in warm water afterwards. This procedure ensures bacterial sterility of the product.
However, still a lot of residual waste was left unused. Recently, the company developed an innovative technique to manufacture wheat straws from wheat pulp. This pulp is obtained from other rest material as well as from recycled straws.
Due to the changing attitude of customers towards the environment, the company anticipates on a rapid increase in sales of the wheat straws. Therefore, the company is looking for manufacturers and partners for these novel developed wheat straws. A manufacturing agreement is envisioned. This comprises the novel manufacturing proces of the wheat straws from pulp. The company will support the partner with all necessary information and technologies in order to establish the new factory.
Furthermore, since the company would like to hold the storage and distribution of the end product in one location, a suitable capacity and competence of the envisioned partner is required as well. Hence, the company is open for others forms of collaboration and financing. Other types of agreements such as joint venture agreement and a financial agreement can be discussed as well.
