Summary:
An Icelandic SME, a pioneer in the extraction of natural silica minerals from geothermal water used to produce certified natural health products (food supplements) is looking for partners for a Eurostars grant application. The research focuses on orthosilicic acid in geothermal silica in order to research the bioavailability and the ratio of orthosilicic acid (OSA)
The partnership sought is a research cooperation agreement to participate in Eurostars.
Description:
The Icelandic R&D company has great experience with extracting natural silica minerals from geothermal water and production of natural health products. The company uses advanced technology and minerals found in Iceland's volcanic earth to produce natural and pure food supplements for daily intake.
The Eurostars project is aimed at better understanding the geothermal silica, and will be used for further research, such as clinical trials on the effects of geothermal silica on the body. By researching the bioavailability of geothermal silica, a contribution is made towards understanding the benefits of natural silica. Research on bioavailability will be done with a small to medium clinical trial. The analysis will be conducted in a lab, where the ratio will be determined. When the ratio has been determined a research will be conducted on possibilities of isolating the orthosilicic acid and by doing so increase the ratio of orthosilicic acid in the products.
The partner sought should have expertise and experience within inorganic chemistry and bioavailability science. Partner could be a University or a research center, eligible for a Eurostars grant in their country, that would assist with measuring the orthosilicic acid in a liquid product and help develop methods to stabilize the liquid so it will be possible to increase the OSA.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
