Description:
A French SME is manufacturing eco-packing products in wood. This fibre is used as a packing material to protect fragile products.
Nowadays, applications are more varied: bedding for poultry, insulation for nursery gardeners, packing of crustaceans, hamper, lining for gift boxes, lining for fruit and vegetable boxes, etc.
Instead of producing the wood bales itself, the company wants to develop and focus from now on the manufacturing of products made of wood wool (especially pads).
In order to go along with this strategy, the SME is looking for a steady supplier able to provide the quantity of wood wool required, and who must also respect the bill of specifications (which will be provided before any agreement) in terms of size, humidity, color and quality overall.
The company is willing to visit the supplier and share know how if necessary. Both companies must be reactive to each other in order to make the organisation of the production (from the supplier and the buyer) easier during the high season.
The SME is therefore looking for a supplier or manufacturer of raw wood wool for manufacturing agreement to supply the raw materials needed for the production.

The partner is expected to :
- have an English speaking person in the team
- be the manufacturer of the wood wool or must have a direct contact with the producer to guarantee the best reactivity and control on the production.
- respect the planning of production after the confirmation of the orders.
- The partner can be required to be in touch with the transport company to plan the loading of the truck.
- The lead time expected is about 10 days for 15 tons of wood wool.
Technical Specification or Expertise Sought:
The company seeks a wood wool supplier which must comply with the following specifications :
QUALITY
- Type of wood : spruce or poplar
- Only dried wood used to make the wood wool (<20% of humidity rate)
- No treatment on the wood
- The color of the wood wool must be clear and bright
- Size of the wood wool : lenght 30-50cm / width 2mm / thickness 0.2mm
- Wood wool pressed into bales up to 80kg per bale
- No loose bales loaded in truck but only on pallet
- A food contact certificate can be asked
PRODUCTION
- The supplier must be able to process the wood wool and to produce 50 to 90 metric tons per year.
- The lead time expected is about 10 days for 15 tons of wood wool.
