Summary:
An Israeli company has developed an RF (radio frequency) based presence and fall detection device, for remote monitoring of elderly people. After a simple installation, it begins to monitor the environment. If a fall is detected, it automatically conducts a call to a pre-defined caregiver for help. The device maintains full privacy (no cameras). The product is more than 97% accurate. The company is looking for distributors with experience in selling to the healthcare sector.
Description:
This Israeli company develops safe, mobile, low-cost 4D imaging sensors, enabling applications in the fields of people-tracking, vehicle automation, security, signal testing, construction, and even early stage breast cancer detection. The company was established back in 2011, and today has about 170 employees, more than 30 patents registered and a strong financial foundation.
The company is currently focused on a revolutionary, hands-free, RF based emergency response system. The device, that should be placed on one of the room walls, is constantly sending out signals that scan the environment using harmless radio waves (about a thousand times weaker than a mobile phone). The device monitors through objects and furniture, and around corners. It has a field of view of about 170 degrees and a range of 6*6m. It detects a person’s body position, a fall, or health irregularities. When it recognises deterioration, it notifies a monitoring centre. It does not use cameras, and therefore maintains privacy. Set-up is also simple for out-the-box use.
The RF System on a Chip is the most advanced in the world, with 72 transceivers, flexible frequency bands (3-81GHz) and a DSP on the chip, all while keeping a small form factor and low cost.
1,200 tests have been conducted across 17 different fall scenarios (Fast falls, gradual falls, falls behind objects and furniture, falling from a bed, falling on the back, side, and stomach, with variations of BMI and height etc.). The device achieved industry leading detection rates of more than 97%.
The device is US and CE certified, UL1637 approved and approved for use across the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan.
Additional features, such as daily activity analysis, daily patterns analysis and gait analysis, respiration monitoring and security will be supported in the future by a Gen 2 device.
The company has previous experience of about 5 years in international cooperation with USA, East Asia, and Australia, and recently with Europe as well. They are now looking to further expand the international side of the business and wish to find reliable distributors who will assist in introducing the product to their local markets. Experience with healthcare products, facilities for elderly people (nursing homes, independent living, home care) is important, as well as the ability to provide installation and customer support services.
