The holographic telepresence station makes people interact from remote locations whilst living the experience of being in the same room. The state-of-the-art station design is based on advanced optical perceptions. It combines hardware (cameras, monitors, computers and speakers) with a specific scenography (lighting, sound, reflections and interior design) to create lifelike hologram representations of people and space. This allows for natural human communication and creates “true presence” for service points within service-critical businesses. This is a unique solution, disruptive in its ability to maintain the emotion and feeling of a physical meeting whilst cutting on costs for the corporate user. The benefits include extensions of resence during time, capillarity of services in territories, reductions in expenditure for travel and presence on locations, office space, knowledge sharing. Physical interaction is based on the real facial expressions, gestures, and subtle nonverbal cues that are the foundation of a meaningful communication experience. The station consists of a front-end environment where the user(s) can see the remote operator(s), talk to him/her and upload, exchange and process documents and files and a back-end environment where the operator(s) can see and talk to the user(s). The two environments are equipped with cameras that allows for eye-to-eye contact, microphone-speaker for dialogue, and physical devices that allow the exchange and processing of digital- and paper based information. The station is patented and has been thoroughly tested in an operational environment. People accessing the service point, will have the feeling of “true presence” and experience real eye contact and all sensations of actually being in the same room. Both parties talk and interact in exactly the same way as if they were physically present. This can be extended to several people interacting together at the same time in a conferencing/co-working space, creating a mixed reality environment where real presence and holograms of far located people are interacting in real-time.
