The German family business has developed versatile edible cups based on the needs of its own company and with the corresponding knowledge of the industry. In the absence of appropriate baking technology for the production of such products, the necessary baking process was also developed. As a licensor, the company now offers suitable companies a licence for the production of the products according to the invention for a B2B market to be jointly defined.
The basis for an effective series production of the cups is first the new development and construction of a high-performance, modularly expandable automatic baking machine. The company has already developed a machine concept for this and filed an international patent application; the German patent is expected to be granted shortly. This extensive know-how will be made available to a mechanical engineering company that is up to the task via a technology transfer - corresponding interested parties are ready.
However, the basis for the start of the technical realisation is a preliminary contract with a first potential licensee who wants to manufacture the products according to the invention as the buyer of this baking plant. The project is therefore to be regarded as medium-term, since after all necessary contracts have been concluded, approx. 12 months must be estimated for the construction of the plant plus approx. 6 months for commissioning/start of production; costs of a 40 baking plate machine approx. 1.5 - 1.8 million €; production capacity depending on the respective size of the cups approx. 10-35 million pieces/shift.

- the cups, which can be produced with flexible shaping, are compressed during baking and thus, due to the process, obtain a surface that appears sealed without any additional coating and thus a moisture resistance that is completely unusual for baked goods.

The product offers two completely different starting points in terms of application
1. for individual use as an alternative edible disposable tableware for the B2B sector - i.e. (hospitality) trade customers (in addition to the HORECA sector, also municipal/social institutions, bulk consumers, event catering, etc.); distribution via specialist wholesalers or food services
2. as a basic product/semi-finished product for industrial customers (e.g. frozen food industry) for the development of frozen convenience snacks for the B2B market and the B2C market.

The German company is looking for innovative and financially strong companies with an affinity for baking, which are open to a new, completely unusual production technology and the associated technological challenge of commissioning a new high-performance automatic baking machine, and which are willing to contribute their own know-how or build up new know-how for this purpose; comprehensive familiarisation with the new baking technology at the location of the current first pilot plant by the product developer / inventor is assured.
The potential licensee should be export-oriented and have sales channels in the area of specialised wholesalers, food service, bulk consumers, large industrial customers (e.g. manufacturers of frozen snacks) - if these do not already exist, then the willingness to build up these sales channels must be compelling; if necessary, an interested German trade agency already active in this segment in the D-A-CH -region (Germany (D) - Austria (A) - Switzerland (CH)) can be integrated.
