Summary:
The Polish company has designed a solution for asphalt transverse joint preparation and is looking for business partners. The product is intended to cut costs and environmental pollution by reducing the amount of asphalt that is used.
The company's target group are road construction companies preforming asphalt layers, regardless of the type of road.
The following types of agreements are preferred: commercial agency agreement, distribution services agreement and joint venture agreement.
Description:
The Polish company has started to design and implement an innovative solution dedicated to the road construction sector, the ramp and resistance beam – 2 in 1. The product can be used in all kinds of road construction sites to prevent material loss in preparing the transverse edge, also called a transverse joint or butt joint, at the end of a freshly laid asphalt pavement.
The preparation of the transverse joint is technologically necessary to continue works the next day.
The product solves the problem of the costly process to prepare the asphalt edge, which appears as a consequence of applying the existing solution.
The construction of 1km of an expressway requires at least 9-14 transverse joints, whereas the construction of 1 km of a lower class road requires at least 4-10 transverse joints. In the existing process, the preparation of one joint generates the cost of EUR 180 – EUR 650 (based on the Polish rates). In major infrastructure projects, e.g. an expressway, the total cost of transverse joint preparation may amount to over EUR 100.000 and may entail a material loss of 1.000 tonnes as well as team and equipment hold-ups.
The central feature of the product is a solution that, on the one hand, provides decking for the mineral-asphalt mix, preventing it from losing shape while thickening and helping it shape properly, and, on the other hand, allows the road roller to easily move, up and down, which is necessary to maintain the quality parameters of the pavement. Thanks to this solution, the edge preparation process is shortened from five stages down to just one stage, which is a tangible financial benefit for the client. It is estimated that using the product will reduce the costs by up to 70% (the product is to be used by road construction companies to limit costs with regard to both material loss and hold-ups).
The novelty of the solution is the innovative construction made of an material almost eight times lighter than steel and, at the same time, highly durable as well as resistant to chemicals and temperature (a significant feature taking into account the high temperature of asphalt that the product is going to directly touch). The product is lightweight and user-friendly, so that no additional employee training is needed to operate it. Thanks to the product’s modularity (modules on lengths and modules on height) the product can be used in the construction of roads of different thickness and lanes of different width (from bike lanes to motorways).
The company is eager to establish cooperation with the business in order to further develop the project. Mostly the company is looking for strategic partner with experience in the field of trade and distribution to enable launching product in the foreign markets. The priority is for the company to reach international markets due to the high buying power of international entities and considerably higher costs of asphalt work internationally. That’s why other forms of cooperation, besides distribution services agreement are also possible. The company would be interested as well in the commercial agency or joint venture agreements.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
The company is looking for a business partner who will be responsible for launching and selling the product in the relevant market. The partner should have significant experience and a network of contacts among road construction companies preforming asphalt layers. The company is open to various forms of cooperation (e.g., distribution, sales exclusivity, agency, Joint Venture).
Cooperation with an experienced partner would enable company to enter foreign markets (by reducing possible barriers to markets entry) as well as it might give insight into the requirements which the product should comply with.
Following types of agreements are preferred: Commercial Agency Agreement; Distribution Services Agreement; Joint Venture Agreement.
Stage of Development:
Available for demonstration
Comments Regarding Stage of Development:
The company, along with road construction companies, is performing the final tests to check the application of the product and its functionality on various types of roads (national roads, expressways, local roads). So far, the tests results have confirmed the usefulness and effectiveness of the solution. The company is planning to launch the product in the second half of 2021.
