Portuguese company active in the wholesale of cattle and other live animals, meat and meat products, hides and skins is looking for distributors

This Portuguese Company founded in 2009 in the Azores Islands, which operates in the wholesale trade of cattle (live animals), meat and meat products, hides and skins and bovine carcasses is looking for distributors. The recognition of the quality of the “Meat of the Azores” with “Protected Geographical Indication” was granted by the European Union in 2003.This means that the “Meat of the Azores” comes from cattle born, raised and slaughtered in the Azores, in accordance with traditional practices – the calves are fed with their mother’s milk up to 3 months old; from there on they feed in the Azorean pastures up to the age when they are slaughtered, their diet often being supplemented with hay and silage obtained locally or with energy and protein concentrates. Commercially, the “Meat of the Azores” is distinguished in three types of product: calf, steer and heifer. It is a tender and juicy meat, with a soft texture. Thus, this Region’s meat owes its aroma and flavour to its traditional production method, in particular the way cattle graze and is fed. Furthermore, UNESCO designated the Azores a Biosphere Reserve in 2009 for their impeccable preservation. So, the eco-systems (land or coastal) promote solutions to conciliate biodiversity and its sustainable usage. Partners should have the right channels to distribute these products among the target industries / retail: slaughterhouses, butcher shops, tanning industries (leather processing industries). The target countries are specially EU countries, but being a non-Eu country is not an exclusion criterion.
