UK SME designer of innovative food packaging seeks partners to enter into license or manufacturing agreement

This UK company is a specialist design consultancy, who has over 40 years of experience in the food industry specialising in the fish and ready to eat foods industry. The company has developed a range of innovative food packaging products aimed at the FMCG market and niche food manufacturing/retailers. The initial design was a food platter for the US market that incorporated a drinking straw which held the upper and lower parts of the platter packaging together. The packaging was originally designed for sushi and seafood retailers due to the original size and scallop shell shape. A new version of the platter also incorporates the following as part of the design: • a hinge eating utensil (knife/ fork or chop sticks) • incorporated dipping bowl for sauces/dressings The packaging can now lend itself to a variety of ready to eat takeaway meals such as noodle dishes and oriental cuisine with accompanying utensils. The most likely customers for the product are high end retailers and users such as airlines and airline inflight caterers who may have a requirement for both convenience and improved presentation. Other target markets include seafood distributors, processors and packagers; seafood or sushi restaurant chains; vending solutions; supermarket seafood departments; colleges, universities and other establishments with catering facilities, i.e. hospitals; online and catalogue seafood distributors; catering providers to sports and entertainment events. There is also a strong environmental focus, the designs offer alternatives to single use materials and tackle the most recent concerns of pollution such as PPE and food plastics. For example their latest innovation can be stand alone and/or accompaniment to existing packaging models. Thus doubling the capacity of each platter from 1 to 2 servings (which equals 50% savings in materials). The company is seeking a licensee with manufacturing the co-operation will be via a licencing agreement and or a manufacturing agreement for the packaging designs.
