Summary:
A French company specialising in critical medical devices has developed an UV disinfection and air purification robot in collaboration with a specialist in robotics. This robot has been designed to prevent and reduce the spread of COVID -19 and all infectious diseases in different environments. The company proposes licence agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance.
Description:
The current pandemic highlights the need for effective disinfection equipment to improve the hygiene protocols in high-risk environments such as hospitals, clinics, public transportation, public institution or pharmaceutical laboratories.
In this context, a French company has developed an UV disinfection and air purification robot in collaboration with a specialist in robotics.
This device eliminates viruses and bacteria using UV radiation of type C. The French company has selected UVC lamps technology for its ability to emit radiation within DNA and RNA and so preventing microorganisms replication and providing an efficient biocidal effect.
For mobility, the UVC tower is mounted on a robot that can be remotely controlled and pre-programmed. The robot is fully autonomous during its disinfection cycle and it irradiates surfaces, walls and floors.
As an example, the complete disinfection of walls and floor of a 15 sq. m room would be achieved in 5 minutes.
All bacteria and viruses tested to date respond to UV disinfection, but their UV resistance varies and some require a higher dose of radiation to achieve 99.99% inactivation. For example, this dose is 27 mW/cm² for the SARS-CoV-2 strain. To ensure that the radiation dose threshold is met, the travel speed of the robot can be adjusted. Other parameters such as the angle of the reflector and the distance to the target surface can be adjusted according to the user's needs.
An air filtration system is integrated for optimal room air purification. Designed to neutralise the spread of viruses and bacteria in the air, it can be used during the disinfection phase or completely independently.
For the safety of users, the robot is equipped with safety features such as alarms and a smart camera system that can detect humans up to 7 m away. As the robot doesn’t use chemicals in order to clean, staff is so preserved from unhealthy environments and residual chemicals toxicity.
This robot offers a powerful, automated, adjustable and safe disinfection solution.
The company is seeking new partners for this robot, from distributors, cleaning companies or healthcare institutions seeking an efficient and fast disinfection solution to use or to market.
The company proposes licence agreements to distributors of the robots, and commercial agreement with technical assistance to users of this robots, as care facilities, pharmaceutical companies, etc.
Type (e.g. company, R&D institution…), field of industry and Role of Partner Sought:
Licence agreements are proposed to distributors.
Specific role of partner sought : distribution of the UV disinfection and air purification robot and possibly first level maintenance
The French company will supply this device, its consumables and necessary support for the marketing of this solution (documentation, sales support, sales training, user training support…)
Commercial agreement with technical assistance is proposed to care facilities or laboratories wishing to use this device within their structure. But also, to pharmaceutical companies, transport companies, manufacturers, shopping centres wishing to propose a testing solution to their users, customers, employees, members.
The French company provides the device and the support (user manuals, training) needed to use this robot.
